Score Sound is a software project to write listening graphic scores. This product is realized by the Information Technology Department of the University of Catania and the course of Electronic Music of the Musical Institute "V. Bellini" of Catania. The software is directed to users who have basic knowledge of electronic music but the composing work is made easier by new arrangement approach: the placement of audio objects into the listening graphic score. An audio object is a combination of physical features as wave form, frequency, duration, wherein each of these can be customised editing basic parameters. For each audio object created, you can fix the position into the score panel and the graphic appearance. In this way the standards adopted in common music arrangements are ignored. In the branch of electro-acoustic music there isn't neither note code nor standard symbols that can be represented on musical staff, but there's infinite combinations of sounds which make this new approach very powerful. 
Score Sound make available to user a collection of default audio objects which can be changed during the composition, and other tools for play back, electro-acoustic analysis and score visualizations.Some similar softwares are also available but Score Sound wants to be a project better structured and optimized for electronic music lovers. |
